Click the Go to Parent {
} button once and click the Add New Layer {
} button to create our second layer. Click the None button and assign a Noise map to our second layer.
This is our first detail map. Set the:
» Tiling to 2 all over (repeat the map)
» Noise Type to Fractal
» Size to 25
» High Threshold to 0.55 (more white)
» Levels to 3
You can leave the Phase at 0.
Click the Go to Parent {
} button once. Set the Second layer to Multiply.
Click the Add New Layer button {
} again. Click the None button and assign a Cellular map. This will be our second and last Detail map.
Under Cell Characteristic set the:
» Type to circular (cloud like)
» Check the Fractal box
» Size to 25
» Spread to 1 (uniform spread)
» Roughness to 0.5
Go back by pressing the Go To Parent button {
} and set the third layer to Multiply as well.
Go to the Top Level and assign a Noise map to the Diffuse Map slot. Set the:
» Black color to a dull blue
» Noise Type to Fractal
» Size to 25 or so
» High Threshold to 0.7 (less blue)
Switch to the camera view by pressing {C} and render the thing! You should get something like this:
Select the Light and set its color to a yellowish white. Also raise its multiplier by a bit to compensate.
It looks even better with a thought-out background.
If it still looks off, try different light positions and base opacity mask tweaks. Because this effect depends on a great deal of variables you can also download our finished scene:
