This tutorial will walk you through the creation of a brush in Photoshop. Brushes are possibly the most important tools in Photoshop so knowing how to create brush patterns is a must.
Page 1 covers the bubble graphics
Page 2 covers the Photoshop brush preset settings
You can download the completed brush from here.
Create a new Photoshop document. The brush’s maximum usable size will be half the document’s size.
Select Photoshop’s Paint Bucket Tool {
} from beneath the Gradient tool {
} (“g”) and fill the background color with black.
Create a new layer by pressing the New Layer {
} button. Click and hold the Rectangular Marquee tool {
} and select Photoshop’s Eliptical Marquee tool {
} from underneath. Create a large circular selection.
Select the Gradient Tool {
} , set the gradient to range from white to transparent. Also set it to radial and drag a gradient inside the circular selection. Remember that the point you drag from will be the highlight of the bubble.
Select the Brush Tool {
} , set the opacity to 10% and brush some more highlights inside the circular selection.
Select the Eliptical Marquee tool {
} again and set the feather value to 20px or so. Do a circular selection on the bottom-right part of the bubble. Press the delete key to create a spherical effect. In Photoshop, the delete key serves a wide variety of purposes, so make sure you are on the working area of the document.
Go to the Filters/ Blur menu and click the Gaussian Blur entry
Set a small blur amount and click ok. For this tutorial, I’ve used a value of 5.
Right click the Bubble layer and click on Merge Down.
