For this part of the tutorial you’ll be using use Photoshop’s “Elliptical Marquee Tool” {
} and the Hue/Saturation adjustment. This method is easier to do but can be tricky with certain angles.
Fire-up Photoshop. Open the picture that you want to work on and select the “Elliptical Marquee Tool” {
}, from the “Rectangular Marquee Tool” menu {
}.
Drag a selection elipse around the area you want to modify.
Don’t worry if it doesn’t turn out perfect from your first try. To make the necessary adjustments, go to the “Selection” menu and click “Transform Selection”.
Using the resizing handles, you can adjust the selection to match your area. After that, just press the “Enter” or the “Return” key on Macs.
To change the color of the selection, click the “Image” menu, “Adjustments”, and the “Hue/Saturation” option. You can also use the Photoshop keyboard shortcut “Ctrl+U“ or “CMD+U” on Mac.
Make sure your check the colorize box and toy around with the sliders. If the color is too dull just increase the saturation amount and the brightness.
Hit the “OK” button, go to the “Select” menu, and click “Deselect” or use the “Ctrl+D” shortcut, or CMD+D on Macs.
And that’s all for this quick Photoshop tutorial.
